Labasa students from classes One to Form Seven are attending a two-weeks youth camp organised by the Vanua Levu Arya Samaj.

More than 40 students were present at the religious camp at the Vanua Levu Arya Samaj Hall.

Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji National Preacher Pt. Guru Datt said this was such the second year that a camp was organised.

The main objective of the camp was to provide youths a religious education and to encourage them to live a disciplined life.

“These involves living a virtuous life, learning the importance of living up to religious expectations, understanding human life and what it means to be an upright leader,” Pt. Guru  Datt said.

“Students spend most of their lifetime completing their education and it is equally important that they acquire religious education.

“During these school holidays parents should take the initiative to enrol their children in a religious youth camp.”

He said participants were also taught how to carry out house chores including cooking.

“Such kinds of camps encouraged participants to refrain from taking illicit drugs, alcohol and peer pressure,” Pt. Datt said.

The camp opened Monday and will end today.
